Info & Tips

BUYING IN BULK WILL SAVE YOU TIME & MONEY

Hay is sold by the ton or by the bale; A Ton of hay is 2,000lbs

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE PAYING A TON

Most feed stores are after the lightest 3 string bale they can find,
normally 90lb to 100lbs.

2000lb/100lb=20 bales to the ton @ $15 a bale = $300 a ton

2000lb/90lb=22 bales to the ton @ $20 a bale = $420 a ton

A hay squeeze is (Please see picture to the left of one of our hay sqeezes), this is what will typically unload the trucks at your farm.

HOW MUCH HAY DOES A HORSE EAT A DAY?

A basic rule is to feed 2lbs for 100lbs.
1,000lb horse needs 20lbs of hay a day
We figure the average horse eats about 1/3 of a ton a month

Hay season is typically from June to September
